Overall, while the Internet usage among those aged less than 15 and those who over 50 experience an upward trend, the opposite was true for the remaining groups. Additionally, Internet was most popular among the 16-30 age brackets.
Initially, the 16-30 aged groups accounted for about 53% of the total proportion of Internet usage, making it the highest figure among all categories. This was approximately 12% higher than the figure for the 31-to-50-year-olds. Far below was people who aged less than 15 and those who were over 50, with their corresponding figures being roughly 2 and 4%.
Thereafter, the proportion of people who aged between 16 and 30 underwent a gradual decrease by about 10% over the next 2 years. Similarly, the 31-50 age brackets also saw a slight decrease, falling to just over a third in the same period. The youngest age group, by contrast, recorded the most appreciable increase, ascending by 7% by 2000, while the Internet usage in the older group show a more marginal increase. with its figure reaching by 6% in the final year.
