The bar chart depicts how frequently four different age groups accessed to the Internet in Taiwan between 1998 and 2000.
Overall, people aged 31-50 were sustainably the main Internet users over the period, while the 16-30 age group gradually lost their interest in the Internet over the years.
In 1998, individuals aged 16 to 30 were the dominant group accessing the Internet, with approximately 55%. Whereas the 31-50 age bracket was the second highest age group, which was roughly 12% less than the former. However, after a year, the proportion of Taiwanese citizens using the Internet in the two age groups started to experience a slight fall before they eventually remained the same in 2000, with nearly 45% and 38% for each.
Regarding the remaining age groups, in 1998, the percentage of citizens aged under 15 accessing the Internet reached its lowest point of roughly 3%, which was close to the percentage of the 50 or more age group. In just one year, the two age brackets witnessed a dramatic increase and reached the same percentage of approximately 9%. Nevertheless, in 2000, the teenage age group did not seem to have more access to the Internet, while the elderly users continuously raised their usage of the Internet and reached the peak of 10%.
