Overall, despite reading, women spend most time on household chores (cooking, washing up, cleaning the house), whereas men allocate more time to leisure activities (watching TV and surfing the internet). On the other hand, gardening is the least preferred activity for both genders. While the highest number of hours spent by women is on cooking, men spend the most on watching TV.
Regarding household chores, women spend 15 hours per week on cooking, while it takes 9 hours for men. Similarly, women spend more time on washing up compared to men, at 7 hours and 5 hours, respectively. There is also more time spent by women than men on cleaning the house, accounting for 5 hours of women and only 2 hours of men. Meanwhile, women dedicate slightly higher numbers of hours on reading than men, at approximately 5.5 hours and 5 hours.
Turning to leisure activities, men allocate 14 hours to watching TV, whereas women spend 12 hours per week. There is a significant disparity on surfing the internet, which men (12 hours) take three times higher than women’s (4 hours). Gardening shows the fewest hours, with men spending 2 hours and women allocating only an hour per week.
