The bar graph compares the participation of boys and girls in different sports in an English town in 2012.
In general, there were more boys taking up football, tennis, cycling and hockey than girls, while an opposite pattern can be seen in the two other sports. It is also noticeable that the most popular sports for boys and girls were football and swimming respectively, in total contrast to hockey.
To be detailed, the number of boys playing football was triple that of girls, at 60 and 20 accordingly. A similar difference of 15 participants was seen in both tennis and cycling, showing a larger number of boys than girls. In comparison, hockey only attracted 15 boys, which was 5 more players than girls.
By contrast, there were 10 more girls participating in badminton and swimming. However, the figure for the former was lower than that of the latter in both genders.
