Overall, while the ownership of telephone decreased, the opposite was true for other items during the period. Furthermore, the lowest proportion accounted for dishwashers in both years.
In 2001, the telephone was the most popular item, with approximately 95%. This figure shows a slight decline of roughly 88% in 2008. In contrast, microwave owned at approximately 80%, which increased by 10% over the next seven years. Similarly, CD players saw significant growth, rising from 65% to 90% and becoming the most owned item in 2008.
On the other hand, the ownership of mobile phones increased substantially from 25% in 2001 to 80% in 2008. Additionally, the usage of dishwashers doubled from 20% to 40%. However, the figure for the internet climbed sharply from 10% to 70%, which was the most significant growth over the period.
