The line graph illustrates the proprotion of households with five different technology (CD player, telephone, computer, internet and DVD player) in the UK over a period of four years, from 1997 to 2001.
Overall, it is evident that the percentage of each technology grew over the period indicated. However, while CD player remained the technology with the highest percentage, the other figures fluctated from the start to the end of the period.
Examining the data more closely, the amount of households with CD player slightly rose from 60% in 1997 to approximately 80% in 2001. Likewise, the figure for computer remained more or less stable, from 40% to almost 60% at the end of the period.
On the other hand, the percentage of households with the remaining technologies showed a different trend during the four years. Telephone, which was one of the least used technology in housholds, showed a gradual rise from 20% in 1997 to over 30% in 2000 and then significantly increased to almost 70% in 2001. A similiar trend can be seen in the remaining two figures, internet and DVD player. The first one was the technology with the lowest percentage at 10% in 1997 and reached a peak of 50% in 2001, while the second one fluctated over the period going from almost 30% in 1997 to 40% in 2001.
