The graph shows the percentage of households with different kinds of technology in the UK from 1997 to 2001.
Overall, as a general trend, there was an upward movement in five categories. Furthermore, the percentage of households with CD players had the highest figure, whereas the percentage of households with DVD players had the lowest figure.
The percentage of households with DVD players had a fluctuating trend; it slightly declined from 25% in 1997 to approximately 15% in 1998, but afterwards increased and reached 50% in 2001, however it remained the lowest. Whereas, the figure for households using the internet rose from 10% to 55% over the four-year period. A similar trend can be seen with the percentage of households using telephones, which dramatically increased from 20% in 1997 to about 72% in 2001. Similarly, the percentage of households with computers steadily rose from 40% in 1997 to 65% in 2001. Also, the figure for households using CD players increased from 60% to 78% over the four-year period and reached the highest figure.
