The line graph illustrates the percentage of young people in UK which followed a vegetarian diet during the years 1960 until 2020.
It is clear that number of vegetarian increased steadily between years 1960 to 1980, and in 1980 amount of people who followed a vegetarian diet was the highest of all time. After nearly two decades the percentage of vegetarian dropped, however since 1996 the vegetarian diet has gained popularity again.
There is a significant increase in UK adolescent who followed a vegetarian diet between 1960 and 1980. There were nearly more than 15 percent of UK adolescent following a vegetarian diet in 1980, since today the vegetarian diet has never been so popular among the UK adolescent. Between 1980 and 1990 there was a significant drop in young people who followed a vegetarian diet.
The graph fluctuated between 1990 and 2000, however in 1996 the percentage of young people who choose a vegetarian diet in UK reached it’s minimum, nearly less than 5 percent. After year 2000 the graph saw a rise from 5 to more than 10 percent over a decade, and between 2010 and 2020 the percentage of UK adolescents who followed a vegetarian diet levelled off.
