The image above shows a line graphic about the percentages of UK adolescents following a vegetarian diet. As i see from the line graphic, there is some difference percentage from year to year.
Overall, the proportion of vegetarian adolescents showed significant fluctuations over the period. It rose sharply from 1960 to around 1980, then declined until the late 1990s, before increasing again towards the end of the timeframe.
In 1960, only about 1% of UK adolescents were vegetarians. This figure increased steadily over the next two decades, reaching a peak of approximately 15-16% in 1980. After this high point, the percentage fell markedly during the 1980s and early 1990s, dropping to around 7%. The downward trend continued, hitting a low of about 4-5% in the late 1990s.
From around 2000 onwards, the proportion began to recover. There was a gradual rise throughout the 2000s, with the figure climbing to roughly 10-11% by 2010. After that, the percentage remained relatively stable, showing only slight fluctuations, and ended at just over 11% in 2020.
In summary, although vegetarianism among UK adolescents experienced periods of decline, the overall trend shows renewed growth in recent years.
