The line graph shows the number of pop music units sold in Asia between 2000 and 2020.
Overall, pop music sales saw a significant increase over the twenty-year period. Although there was a sharp drop in the middle of the timeframe, the industry recovered strongly to reach its highest point by 2020.
Initially, in 2000, sales stood at approximately 10,000 units. This figure rose slowly for two years before growing quickly to a peak of nearly 50,000 units in 2008. However, this trend reversed over the next four years. Sales fell sharply, reaching a low point of about 8,000 units in 2012, which was even lower than the starting figures in 2000.
From 2012 onwards, the market experienced a consistent and rapid recovery. Sales jumped to 60,000 units by 2014 and continued to climb steadily for the rest of the period. By 2020, pop music sales reached their peak at roughly 112,000 units, more than ten times the amount sold at the beginning of the century.
