In 1950, regarding the age structure trend shown on the other side of the chart, the 15-65 age group recorded the highest population, reaching approximately 7 million. The second-largest group was those under 15, with around 4 million people, which was notably higher than the over 65 group, whose population was just under 3 million. By 2040, the 15-65 age group is expected to remain the largest, reaching nearly 27 million people. Notably, the over-65 group is projected to surpass those under 15, rising to approximately 9 million and becoming the second-largest age group.
