The line graph illustrates the average monthly expenses on children’s sports participation in the UK from 2008 to 2014, highlighting various sports.
Overall, millions of children participate in different sports such as football, athletics, and swimming. Football is the most played sport among children, and consequently, its expenses are at their peak compared to the other two sports: athletics and swimming.
From 2008, the expenses for athletics and swimming, which started with 1 million and 2 million children respectively, showed a steady rise until 2010. Athletics experienced a gradual increase in participation until 2012; however, there was a dramatic fall in 2014. Meanwhile, the swimming sport reached almost 4 million participants, with a slow increase in expenses up to 2014.
In 2008, approximately 8 million kids participated in football. Although there was a slight decrease in both the number of participants and expenses in 2010, the numbers rose to 9 million children participating in the sport by 2014, with corresponding increases in expenses. Notably, the average monthly expenditures for swimming and athletics in the UK are very similar.
