In 2001, 60000 students applied in Australian school, 40000 were locals while only 20000 were forigns. The number of forign students rose significantly by 6000 to reach a peak at 80000 in 2010. There was also an increase of 20000 in the figures for local students to reach 60000 in 2006 and the and for the next four years the local enrolments remained stable.
