The given date depicts the number of local and international students entering Australian universities. The period of observation lasted from 2001 to 2010.

According to the figure, the number of commencing overseas students as the total number of overseas students rocketed between 2001 and 2009. The amount of new international students more than doubled during the shown 10 years, going up from less than 20 thousand up to 40. At the same time the total quantity of international students shown even more consistent rise, increasing at four times.

Turning to the remained figures, the total number of local students experienced a significant steady increase between 2001 and 2007, rising by around 50%, then reached a plateau. In contrast the amount of commencing local students fluctuated at around 20 thousand all 10 years.

Overall, while both overseas and local student enrolments increased, the grows rate for international students was more significant. The number of local students grew rapidly until 2007, when the number of overseas students was steadily rising the whole period.
