The bar chart illustrates the total percentages of films released and the total percentage of ticket sales in 1996 and 2000.
Some genres of films had bigger share of release and also higher ticket sales, while the other had smaller share of release, in effect lowering the rate of ticket sales. An increase trend of release happened with Drama, Comedy, and Fantasy. The sales also followed suit and increased within the three genres. Only Romance had steady percentage of release and a drop in sales.
Fantasy and romance had a smaller figure for the share. Fantasy had just over 10% of films released in 1996 and gradually rise to just over 15% by 2000. Romance had a more stable share of release with just over 5% both in 1996 and 2000. For sales, Fantasy genre has a noticeable increase in profit with near 3% in 1996 to halfway passing 7% in 2000. The trend doesn’t apply to Romance genres which had a decline in sales with 5% in 1996 and dropped to a measly near 1% share of sales.
Drama and comedy had the bigger percentage of films released. Drama has just over 25% and around 35% in 1996 and 2000 respectively. On the other hand, Comedy, although in the same groupings, had a slightly smaller percentage with 20% in 1996 and 25% in 2000. The ticket sales however, flipped the situation. Drama films grossed just over 15% both in 1996 and 2006. Comedy movie takes the lead with 20% in 1996 and increased to just over 20% by 2000.
