The two bar charts illustrate the proportion of movies introduced and tickets purchased between 1996 and 2000 in a certain nation.
Overall, there were increases in the percentage of film released and tickets sold in all examined types of movies, apart from romance, which was unchanged in the total of films launched but decreased in ticket sales. Notably, both drama and comedy were by far the dominant in terms of the total of movies released and sold tickets in two years, while the opposite was true for fantasy and romance.
Regarding movies launched, in 1996, drama topped the list with 25% of films introduced, which was 5% and 10% higher than the figures for comedy and fantasy, respectively. Meanwhile, only 5% of romance movies were released at that time. Over the following four years, the figure for drama rose significantly to 35%, remaining the leading position, followed by the figures for comedy and fantasy, which grew by 5% each, whereas that for romance stayed unchanged.
Turning to the cinema ticket sales, in 1996, the total number of tickets sold for comedy movies were nearly 25%, 5% higher than that of drama films. Meanwhile, romance became the third most popular films with 5% of tickets purchased, which doubled that for fantasy. In 2000, all the figures for comedy, drama, and fantasy increased by around 3% each. By contrast, that for romance declined by half, recorded being the smallest figure at that time.
