The first barchart shows the percentage of film released in 1996 and 2006. Chart number two shows the percentage of cinema ticket sales in the same years. both charts cover the same four genres which are : Drama, Comedy, Fantasy and Romance.
The majority of films released are in the Drama category in 1996 it was more than 25% of all movies and in 2006 it was 35%. While comedy and fantasy are ranking number two and three in both years, romance is ranked the lowest with only seven percent in both years.
Ticket sales in these years were spread out fairly different compared to the films released. While comedy is ranking number one in both years 1996 and 2006 with 20% and 23%. Romance remains in the last rank with only five percent in 1996 and only two percent in 2006.
The Drama genre increased slightly in ticket sales over the years from 16% in 1996 to 17% in 2006. The fantasy genre managed to double the cinema ticket sales from 1996 to 2006 from four percent to eight percent.
When comapring both charts you can see that Comedy has always been the most popular genre in the cinma out of these for genres. While the industry puts the main focus on producing drama fiilms.
