In terms of film releases, Drama was the most popular genre to release, starting at 26% in 1996 and reaching 35% in 2000. Similarly, Comedy releases increased from 20% to 25%. Fantasy films also experienced a slight growth from 11% to 15%. In contrast, the share of Romance movies remained stable at 5% throughout the period.
As for ticket sales, Comedy performed the best of 20% of ticket sales in 1996 and increased slightly to 22% in 2000. Drama ticket sales appeared to be the second best selling tickets despite a slight increase from 16% to 17%. Notably, the ticket sales of Fantasy showed the biggest growth, rising from 3% to 7%. By contrast, Romance was the only category where ticket sales declined from 5% in 1996 to just 2% in 2000, making it the lowest one.
