Overall, it is clear that drama, comedy and fantasy films increased dramatically in their movies released while the figure for romance was always hit the lowest point and remained unchanged. Meanwhile, regarding ticket sales, the consumption of comedy accounted for a higher than the other genres in both years.
The production of drama films saw a significant growth, roughly 10% from approximately 25% in 1996 to around 35% in 2000. Correspondingly, comedy and fantasy genres also exhibited an upward trend, each rising by nearly 5% throughout the period. While the distribution of romantic movies released remained relatively stable at just over 5%.
In term of ticket sales, in 1996, comedy movies were higher than drama’s with their sales being 20% and 15%, respectively. Additionally, romance films were more than 2 times, greater that fantasy’s, at 5% and 2.5%, in order that. 2000 experienced a gradual rise in the popularity of three genres namely drama, comedy and fantasy, whereas the fraction of romantic films dropped to just a third.
