The charts depict information about the number of movies released as well as theatre ticket sales in 1996 and 2000. Overall, drama and comedy were the most produced and sold genres. Meanwhile, fantasy and romance became the least in each trend.
In 1996, drama was the leading type of movies released for over 25%, followed by comedy (20%), fantasy (about 12%), and romance (5%). Almost all films genre showed an increase in production during 2000 with drama being the significant one, which about 10% growth. Comedy and fantasy also rose to 25% and 16% respectively. However, romance genre remain constant.
In terms of sales, comedy movies were the most popular genre with the number of sales of 20% in 1996 and climbed to approximately 23% in 2000. Drama came in second for the most sold films in 1996 with around 16% and rose slightly to 17% in the next period. Both fantasy and romance were below 10% in sales during 1996. Nonetheless, only fantasy genre that had an increase in sales to around 7%.
