The graphs compare the sales of three types of music album: Pop, Rock, and Classical in Britain, categorized by gender and age.
Overall, it is apparent that music albums are more appealing to males than females. Additionally, Pop and Rock music attract a younger audience, while Classical albums are more popular with the middle-aged group.
Regarding the major music genres, over a quarter of men opt for Pop albums, higher than the 20% of women. Notably, the age groups from 16 to 24 and 25 to 34 account for the largest shares of the Pop music total sales, with both standing at roughly 30%. These younger cohorts are significantly higher than the 35-44 and 45+ groups, with approximately 20% and 10% respectively. The sex and age demographics in Rock music share a similar pattern as those in Pop music, although the figure for the 16-24 cohort is larger than that for the 25-34 group by a narrow margin.
By contrast, Classical albums appear to be particularly popular with people over 44, making up 20% of the total sales, followed closely by around 17% of those aged 25 to 34. The percentages of other age groups are negligible, with each standing at under 3%.
