The line graphs show how many people in Australia went to the cinema and how much money was spent on cinema tickets from 1980 to 2015.
Overall, both cinema attendance and money spent went up during the period. However, spending increased more than attendance. There were some ups and downs in the percentage of people going to the cinema.
In 1980, around 35% of Australians went to the cinema. This number slowly rose to about 45% in 1990. After that, it kept increasing and reached around 65% in 2010. Then it fell a little to just over 60% by 2015. There were small changes in 2005 and again in 2015.
The spending on cinema tickets started at just under 200 AUD in 1980. It went up slowly until it reached 500 AUD in 2000. After that, it stayed the same for a while. Then, from 2005, it rose quickly and reached about 1,200 AUD in 2015.
In general, people spent more money on cinema tickets over time, and the increase in spending was bigger than the rise in attendance.
