The pie chart provides data on the five main social networking websites of UK users in 2010 and their expected figures in 2018.
Overall, Facebook is projected to increase their dominance in the field. Twitter will still be significant, while Pinterest, Google Plus, and Bebo are expected to decrease their popularity by 2018.
Facebook and Twitter were the top two ranking social networking websites in 2010 and are both projected to keep their top rankings by 2018. Facebook’s user percentage in 2010 was almost 50% and it is expected to rise to just under 75% by 2018. Twitter, on the other hand, will decrease from 18.33% to 17.39%.
Although Pinterest was quite significant in 2010, as it was only 1.38% less popular than twitter, it is predicted to lower their percentage of British users to only 7.25% in 2018. This decreasing trend will also apply to Google Plus’s popularity, as it is predicted to reach merely 2.9% compared to the 10.42% it had in 2010. Bebo, however, will be the most affected by this decreasing trend as it will disappear entirely by 2018.
