The diagram illustrates the life process of salmon fish in river and ocean, starting with eggs to fully grown fish.
Overall, it is clear that the lifetime of salmon is divided into two main stages of life. First half encompasses the process in the river from eggs to estaury while the second half occurs in the ocean where estaury developes into fully grown salmon.
Focusing on the first half, there are four highlightes stages before reaching to estaury. Spawing predominately happens in the river followed by incubation of the produced eggs. After that, emergence of baby fish takes place before they are brought up in freshwater into estaury.
Moving to the second half, which we can also consider a four-stage lifespan. Estaury rearing takes place in an area between the river and the ocean prior to fish migrating to rearing area solely in the ocean. Then, fish is fully grown and developed into mature salmon. The final stage of the second term is what we can consider to be the link between the two stages, and that is the relocation of salmon into spawing areas in the river.
