In 1975, fish and chips were by far the most popular fast food, being eaten approximately 100 times per year. This figure fell slightly to around 85 in 1980 befor rising to about 95 in 1985. However, after that point, consumption decreased steadily, reaching only 40 times per year over the period.
In contrast, both hamburgers and pizza experienced substantial growth. Hamburger consumotion started at roughly 10 times per year in 1975 and increased deliberately to 85 in 1985.It contiunued to rise, peaking at around 100 times per year in 2000.
Similiarly, pizza was consumed only about 5 times per year in 1975. The figure grew gradually to 35 in 1985 and then rose sharply to approximately 85 by 1995. Consumption remained unchanged during final five years of the period.
