Brazil and Costa Rica produced the most coffee. In 2002, their exports stood at 15 and 12 million kilograms, respectively. While there was a steady decrease in Costa Rica’s exports over the following 4 years, Brazil gradually increased the amount to 15 million kilograms. Subsequently, with some fluctuations, both countries’ exports grew over time, reaching 25 million kilograms (Brazil) and 20 million kilograms (Costa Rica) of coffee exports in 2012.
In 2002, Colombia’s coffee exports remained constant at 5 million kilograms. The coffee exports then increased gradually to reach approximately 12 million kilograms in 2006. After hitting a low of about 2 million kilograms in 2008, they finally rose rapidly to reach a peak in 2012.
