The line graph illustrates the proportion of cinema attendance in Great Britain over a span of 11 years, between 2000 and 2011.
Overall, the percentage of cinema attendance in the age 15-24 group increased dramatically and fluctuated in the middle year, which recorded the highest figure by the end of the period, whereas individuals aged 35 and above rose initially and ended up with the lowest. By contrast, the age 7-14 and 25-35 fluctuated during the period.
At the beginning of the period, the 15-24 age group stood at the largest figure, at approximately 17% in 2000, compared with the 35 and over age group, which remained the smallest share at nearly 2%. Over the following decade, the 15-24 age group grew significantly to roughly 55% in 2011, after which it fluctuated and levelled off in the middle year, while the 35 and more age group experienced an initial rise to almost 13%.
Meanwhile, the proportion of the other two age groups showed a similar trend of rise and fall during the period. By 2011, the 7-14 age group had increased considerably to 30%, whilst the 25-35 age group rose to approximately 24%.
