The line graph presents comparative data on Thailand’s rice exports to four foreign countries – China, Japan, Korea, and India – between 1995 and 2020. The units are measured in percentages.
Overall, it is evident that China experienced a continuous upward trend throughout the period. Similarly, India saw a growth trend, whereas exports to Japan and Korea declined over the same span.
Focusing on the countries with rising rice exports, China’s share of rice exports from Thailand started at 5% in 1995 and reached its peak in 2020, representing a fivefold increase to 25%. In the case of India, rice exports remained constant at around 6% until 2005, after which they increased steadily to 15%. Following a sharp peak, this figure decreased modestly relative to the other increases, finishing at 13% in 2020.
Regarding Japan and Korea, both countries witnessed a sharp decline in Thailand’s rice exports. Japan’s proportion fell from 20% to 12%, while Korea’s decreased from 10% to 2%. Nevertheless, despite these declines, the exports to these countries continued to maintain a notable share by the end of the period.
