The line graph provides a clear depiction of the number of international tourists (in millions) in three specific countries – France, Spain, and Japan – over the period between 1990 and 2020.
Overall, France consistently remained the most visited destination among all countries. While France and Spain saw a substantial upward trend, Japan’s figures fluctuated before decreasing gradually.
In 1990, France was the clear leader with 45 million international visitors, a figure which experienced steady increase over the years and finally reached approximately 82 million by the end of 2020. Similarly, Spain started at the lowest point in 1990 but followed a moderate increase before significant growth to approximately 74 million arrivals at the end of 2020.
By contrast, Japan’s figures followed a different pattern. Starting at 40 million visitors in 1990, the figure rose moderately till 2000. In 2000, Japan reached its zenith, with a number of travelers around 42 million. However, after 2000, Japan’s tourist numbers experienced a consistent decline to 34 million and was the least popular destination among the three countries.
