Overall, it is tangible that both France and Spain had increasing numbers by the end of this period except for Japan. However, while Spain and France saw a mostly steady increase, Japan showed fluctuant patterns before finally declining.
In 1990 the figures started around 45 million for France, 40 million for Spain and 30 million for Japan. They went through minor but noticeable changes over the next few years. Following this, the numbers increased rapidly until 2000. France reached approximatley 50 million, while Spain and Japan climbed to 45 million and 40 million.
After 2000, the numbers adjusted significantly. The rate for France and Spain rose steadily, ending at about 80 and 75 million in 2020. In contrast, Japan’s numbers grown considerably to 40. It then continued to decrase graduelly for the rest of the period, finishing at approximately 35 million by the year 2020
