A glance at the line graph provided compares the percentage of expenditure on five items in a European country between 1960 and 2000.
From an overall perspective, it is explicit that the amount of money allocated to Food and Leisure underwent a dramatic decline, whereas the figures for Transport and Energy decreased moderately over the whole period. In contrast, clothes were the only section where expenditure increased.
In 1960, 20% and over 30% of money was spent on leisure and food respectively, and the figures witnessed a steady fall to roughly 10% and 15% four decades later. Regarding figures for Transport and Energy, they both witnessed a modest decrease, and in 2000, the share of transport amounted to 5, halving from the initial 10%, whereas expenses on energy approached almost 0%.
On the other hand, the proportion for clothing gradually rose from 10% to 15% throughout the period. Furthermore, it ended with the highest figures in comparison with other categories in 2000.
