The line graph compares the proportion of average expenditure in five various sectors in a European country between 1960 and 2000. Overall, while only the figure for clothing showcased an upward trend, the remaining four categories (food, leisure, transport, and energy) declined throughout the period. It is also evident that initially the trajectory for clothing although constituted almost the least amount of spending , it ended up with the highest proportion.
The figures for food and clothing followed a distinct pattern. The food spending plummeted during the period. Its figure started with the highest 33% and fell down to 20% before finishing with 15%. Clothing, in contrast, bucked the foregoing trend. The value for clothing amounted to just under 10% and rose to 12% in 1980. Its figure settled at 15%.
Leisure, transport, and energy followed a similar pattern. The former began with 20% and gradually decreased to 12% in 2000. Similarly, the trajectory for transport experienced a modest drop. Its proportion stood at 10% in 1960 and declined to 8% within three decades and ended up with 5%. Lastly, the figure for energy started at 5% and finished the period with mere 2%.
