Overall, Google and AOL witnessed an upward trend in the use of searching among the four engines while Jeeves and Yahoo were fluctuating. Google also dominates the whole chart, compared to other engines
In November 2004, the number of users using the internet for searching was 4.5 billion and this figure went up to 16 billion in December 2010. Google always has the largest proportion of users, which accounts for nearly 60% to 70% after a period of 6 years. Following a similar trend to Google, AOL was not too popular in 2004, however this figure increased slightly by 10%, surpassing Jeeves at the end of 2010
Whereas both Google and AOL went up over years, Jeeves witnessed a downward trend. The percentage of users using this engine was always under 15% and finished at almost 0% in 2010. Another engine, Yahoo was fluctuating between 20% – 40% and remained stable over the years
