Looking at the line graph, international visitors spent around 8000 million pounds when visited the UK in 1980. This figure witnessed a notably increase over the next 15 years and reached its peak of 12000 million pounds in the period of 1995-2000. After that, the amount of money spent by overseas visitors in the UK fluctuated steadily and ended at over 10500 million pounds.
Regarding the pie chart, 44.1% of foreigners came to the UK to have a holiday in 1980, followed by 20.7% people visit England for their businesses. In the same year, the proportion of international visitors going to the UK to visit friends or relatives and for other purposes was quite similar, with 18.7% and 16.6%. By 2010, the figures for holiday and other purposes declined gradually to 39.1% and 16.6%, respectively, while that for business and visiting friends rose to 22.8% and 28.2%, respectively.
