The line graph illustrates the books borrowed in June, July, August and September in 2014 from four village libraries, while the pie chart presents the number of books, by type, that were borrowed over this time.
Overall, it can be seen that the most borrowed type of books in the pie chart are the fiction ones, while self-help literature was the lowest amount. Sutton Wood and Ryeslip libraries from the line graph showed the most significant changes.
In June, Ryeslip reached its highest point of 300 borrowed books and then in July showed downward trend counting at 250, gradually decreasing to 200 and 170 in August and September, respectively. Sutton wood slightly increased the numbers from 250 to 270 between June and July, while in August had rapid decrease to 100. Between August and September Sutton wood library had a surge reaching 300 borrowed books. West Eaton and Church Mount started with 50 books in June and gradually grow up to 120 and 100 in July, respectively. Then West Eaton continued to increase until August to 150 and plateaued in September, while Church Mount had an upward trend from July to September growing at 150 like the previous library.
The highest percentage of borrowed books by type are the fiction books with 43 percent. History and science showed the same results (14%). Self-help books were the least popular with 10 percent of share. Lastly, the biography literature had 19 percent of borrowing.
To conclude, while Ryeslip and Sutton Wood experienced the most dramatic shifts in borrowing activity, fiction was clearly the most preferred book genre across all libraries during this time.
