The line graph illustrates the average number of hours per week that Ukrainian teenagers spent on four different free-time activities between 2000 and 2015.
Overall, the amount of time spent watching TV decreased considerably, while social media showed the opposite trend and became the most popular activity by the end of the period. Sports also declined after reaching a peak, whereas reading remained unchanged throughout the period.
Looking first at TV, teenagers spent about 8 hours per week watching television in 2000. This figure gradually fell to 7 hours in 2005 and 6 hours in 2010. It then dropped sharply to just 1 hour in 2015. In contrast, social media rose steadily from only 1 hour in 2000 to 3 hours in 2010. After that, it increased significantly, reaching approximately 5 hours in 2015.
As for sports, the figure stood at around 6 hours per week in 2000 and climbed to 7 hours in 2005, remaining at this level in 2010. However, it then decreased to about 5 hours in 2015. Meanwhile, reading was the most stable activity. Ukrainian teenagers spent 3 hours per week on it throughout the entire period. By 2015, social media had overtaken both sports and TV, while reading remained unchanged.
