The line graph compares the cost of going to the movie theatre, renting a DVD and legal download, between a 6 years period. Meanwhile, the pie chart gives data about the percentage in which these ways of watching a movie had been used in 2005 and 2011. Overall, it is clear that the cost is increased from 2005 and 2011, and that the online streaming overtook going to the cinemas.
In general, the cost increased for each of the three forms. Cinema tickets price steadily rose from £9 in 2005 to £14 in 2011. The money needed to rent a DVD was also subject to a slight increase, from £6 to £8. In contrast, legal download price drop from £8 to £6 between 2005 and 2007, but then started to rise again up to £9, overtaking the DVD renting cost.
For what concerns the percentage split among these three types, the most common way of watching movies remained renting DVDs, even though with a slight fall from 64% to 56%. Going to the cinema lost in popularity, passing from 30% in 2005 to 18% in 2007. The online streaming with legal download is the form that increased the most, from only 6% to 26%.
