Overall, it is evident that travelling by car declined sharply over the period, while walking and cycling became increasingly popular. However, the use of public transport remained unchanged throughout.
At the beginning of the period, driving was by far most prevalent method, at approximately 900 thousand commuters in 2012. However, this figure dropped significantly to around 250 thousand by 2019, representing the most signifacnt change on the chart. In contrast, people walking to office grew steadily from around 250 thousand to just over 500 thousand, while cycling rose roughly by 200 thousand from 300 thousand to 500 thousand over the same period.
Regarding public transport, bus, train and underground usage remained unchanged throughout the period of 2012 and 2019.
