Moreover, the percentage of people aged 65 or younger is predicted to decline, while there will be a gradual increase in the percentage people who over 65.
For the first graph, starting from 60%, rural population witnessed a gradual fall to 20% in 2010 before staying stable until 2020. The figure is predicted to decrease slightly to 10% in 2040. In contrast, the percentage of urban population doubled from 40% in 1950 to 80% in 2010. The urban population is expected to grow steadily to 90% in 2030, maintaining this position in 2040.
For the age, under 15 and 15-65 age group illustrated a downward trend, while over 65 age group experienced a surge thourghout the period. The 15-45 age group increased steadily from 35% at the start to just over 40% in 2000 before drop sharply to 35% in 2010. After recovered in 2020, the figure is expected to fell gradually to 30% at the end of period. While under 15 age group start at 45% which was the most at the start before decrease substantially to 30% in 2030. Then the figure is predicted to recover in 2030 before decline sharply to 25% in 2040. Conversely, the figure of elderly people soared to about 35% in 2020. The number of old peole is projected to increased slighty to just under 35% in 2030 before rising sharply to 45% in 2040.
