The bar chart above illustrates the percentage of the top ten countries that generated and consumed electricity in 2014.
The overall view of the chart shows that China and the United States stood in leading places, while the other eight countries – Russia, Japan, India, Canada, France, Brazil, Germany, and Korea Rep. – showed lower scores compared to the former countries.
The top five countries in the ranking were: China, the United States, Russia, Japan, and India. In China, which was first in the ranking, the proportions of electricity consumption and production were equal, at approximately 5300 billion kWh. Meanwhile, in the United States, the generation was slightly more than 4000 billion kWh, while usage of energy was 3800 billion kWh, and the difference in throughput was minor (around 200 billion kWh). The remaining three countries in the top five showed approximately the same data: the production of power was 800-1000 billion kWh, while consumption was 700-1000 billion kWh.
The remaining states demonstrated similar results: producing roughly 500 billion kWh and using the same amount.
