The line chart compares the consumption of four different types of meat namely chicken, beef, lamb, and fish, in a European country from 1979 to 2004, measured in grams per person per week.
Overall, beef was the most popular at the beginning of the period, while this figure declined rapidly over the 25-year period. By contrast, the consumption of chicken increased significantly throughout the period.
In terms of meat, the period between 1979 and 2004 witnessed a drastic rise in the amount of chicken from around 140 grams to 250 grams per week, whereas during the period from 1979 to 2004, the figure for lamb declined markedly from 150 to approximately 60 grams.
For the remaining meat, in 1979, beef was the most popular consumed at approximately 220 grams per person per week, but this figure fluctuated during the early 1980s before gradually declining to almost 120 grams by 2004. On the other hand, between 1979 and 2004, fish experienced a slow fall from 60 grams to 50 grams per person per week.
