The given line graph depicts the information about employment rates of men and women, divided into several age categories in Australia (1976 and 2011)
Overall, it is clear that the percentages of both genders were high, when they were young. While, the proportion of men steadily increased by becoming older, conversely the proportion of women significantly decreased employment rate by becoming older.
Based on statistics, the proportion of men and women 1976 commenced with nearly 55% and 52% respectively, and then men’s figures experienced a steady increase to 70%, while the percentage of women significantly declined to 40% at the age cohort 25 years. The older males became, the more they were employed, outperforming women’s figures, by reaching its highest point at 80% in the second given year. In comparison with men, women figures continued steadily decline to nearly 35% over the period.
In terms of males and females 2011, the percentage of female commenced with 48% but figures of males were far lower at nearly 40%. With becoming 18 years, the proportion of males surged and outstripped figures of females to 50%. However, the percentage of females experienced slightly declined to 45%. Becoming older, the figures for females begun slightly increase to nearly 50%, witnessed flattening out, while males dramatically increased in figures to 70% as well.
