Band 5+: The map below is of the town of Canterbury. A new school (S) is planned for the area. The map shows two possible sites for the school. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The crocky shows the general image of Canterbury City which contain only the big structures of the city.

The city shape is close to square that crossed with main road and this road detached the city with two small cities. Sturry is one of these cities which is 5 km Northeast from the city and in the opposite side we can find Chatham city at 7 km. The city centre that located in the middle of housing area is nearly taking a regtongilar shape that built along the Northeast, Southwest road, and in the north of the city centre we can see the university zone.

From these situation we can choose one of the two proposals school location : The first possible school’s place is in Southwest side of the city centre and that choice will make the city centre more crowded and the accebility to or from the school will be hard and don’t support the city growth, also the place is very noisy for such building as school.

The second proposal that located in the East side of the city and out side the housing area look to be better place for the school project that includes many benefits like it can be a start point for the city’s expand and the green nature will be a good view for the school. The place is far away from the main road that will reduce the risk of the roads and encourage students to use health transport like bicycles and there is more spaces around the school if we wand to add more buildings to the school in the future.
