The maps delineate the centre of a small town called Islip’s layout in present day and its anticipated design of the town.
The town’s centre is currently less build-up with a few amenities and road access, whereas the planned design involves additional facilities and expanded road for easier accessibility and more recreational options for residents.
Now, there is only one main road bypassing the centre from the west to the east, while the plan involves the expansion of the road, transforming into a dual carriageway, and an addition of a pedestrians path, entirely replacing the previous main road. Moreover, shops on the northern side of the main road will be replaced with the installation of an array of amenities such as a bus station, a shopping centre, and a car park on the west side, and new housing on the east side. Shops located on the south, however, will remain untouched. In addition, current housing area will be reduced to left, and a similar change will be seen with the park on the right, reducing its size by half. On the other hand, a new housing and a park will be implemented between them. Lastly, the school and the housing on the southern west and southern east will remain unchanged.
