The maps depict how Sitka town developed from an animal farming area to a residential zone between 1986 and 2030, a period of 34 years.
Overall, the farmland in Stitka town was completely replaced with numerous residential houses and academic buildings. Notably, almost of buildings in the town were changed except for the bridge, River Stoke, road, and post office.
In 1986, a significant part of the town was used as farmland which was located in the south-west and north-east of this area. The road divided the town into two parts, and several houses, shops and post office were situated along both sides of the northern road. Additionally, to the west of the road, there were a primary school and a garden with a large house and several trees. After 34 years, agricultural land and shops was cleared to make way for adding new houses along the southern main road and extending the elementary school. Moreover, this land was also used to expand the road which had small side roads on both sides, and several houses were located along these roads. Meanwhile, the garden shrank to building some houses, and the large house in it was replaced with retirement home. Finally, the bridge in the north of the town remained unchanged.
