The maps below illustrate the construction of the Ryemouth’ village in 1995 and its improvement recently.
Overall, it is clear that the village undergoes significant transformation with a variety of new facilities and shelters being added to modernize this area.
In the past, on the north section, there was the location of farmland and the forest park which now was combined and replaced by a golf stadium and a tennis house. Meanwhile, some central facilities such as hotel and cafe still remained with the addition of a car park nearby the hotel. Moreover, the broadening of the road length led to the rising quantity of housing and local population along two sides of the road. This evolution of Ryemouth’ construction shows the transition from a primary agrarian community to a diversified suburban area.
On the south side, Ryemouth has seen the replacement of its fishing port and some local markets surrounding the road near the sea for development in the travel sector and attracted the traveller, that is the reason for the appearance of modern apartments on the seaside and the restaurants on the opposite side. This part of the village nowadays serves as a bustling residential and commercial hub compared to its previous commercial focus on fishing.
