The map illustrates the changes that have taken place in an Australian zoo from 1960 to present day.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the zoo has undergone significant modernization and expansion. Several new facilities have been added, including entrances, ferry, cable cars and wild animals, while some facilities were removed or relocated.
In 1960, the zoo was relatively simple in layout and there were no proper entrances, while the harbour was located at the eastern side. In contrast, at present, it has been constructed at the western side of the zoo. Birds, seal show and chimpanzees were located in the right side of the zoo and African animals and Australian animals were situated in left side.
At present, considerable developments can be observed. African animals have been relocated to the east and gift shop has been expanded. A ferry, entrances and car cable have been added to improve accessibility. Furthermore, birds and chimpanzees have been demolished. However, picnic area and Australian animals have remained unchanged.
