The maps show the Station street as it was in 1960 and its current state.
Overall, the Station Street has almost totally reconstructed apart from the Dry cleaner’s center. Several small areas have been substituted with a solid market. Additionally, new amenities have been introduced.
In 1960, there was a toy, book store, bakery, Dvd rental store on the opposite side of the railway station alongside the street. Adjacent to the Pharmacy on the north-west side of the street stood the butcher. Not far from the railway station located the Grocery and the Public telephones on the left-hand side. The Dry cleaner’s section was situated on the north-east corner of the street, while the fish and chips shop was positioned on its opposite side.
Today, mini stores, particularly the toy store, book store, bakery, Dvd rental store, butcher, have been replaced by the Super Market. The pharmacy and the grocery have been removed to make way for a new parking space and a new hotel respectively. Although the fish and chips shop has been demolished to make space for a new cafe, the dry cleaner’s area stayed unaltered in its initial form. Additionally, The railway station has been expanded at the expense of the Public telephones.
