The given pictures compare how Australia’s coastal area has changed between 1950 and present day.

Overall, it is discernible that the site has undergone significant changes, the most notable of which is the expansion of the road, making the lighthouse more easily accessed. Moreover, additional amenities have been constructed to cater for the local need.

Regarding the main road which runs along the upper side of the area and its surroundings, in 1950, the place where residents can immediately access the city is the playground, which was later replaced with a parking area. On the same side of the playground, located a site with dinings tables, a pavilion, and another car park at the end of the road, these three remained unchanged throughout the period. A curved turn connecting to another road which runs straight to the lighthouse at the bottom right corner has been added to cater for the accessibility needs.

Moving to the inner part, a new surf club has been built in the middle of the lighthouse and the 25 meters long pool facing directly to the beach. At the other end of the beach, the old 25 meters pool has been expanded into 50 meters in length. A huge restaurant and another surf club have also been erected, with the former facing the latter’s back and both of them viewing the lighthouse.
