The maps illustrate the layout of a town center in 1990 and its modern day layout.
Overall, this area has witnessed several refurbishment, the most notable has to be the addition of more pedestrian friendly pathways.
Compared to the town’s layout of 1990, the town had deconstructed shops and amenities stores in order to make place for new one. Previously, the town’s south were homed to various shops, which were then grouped into a shopping mall while the adjacent children care center remained untouched. Similarly, houses at the north of the town were converted into apartment blocks while the bank at the east side was transformed into a cafe.
In 1990, the streets of the town center were for cars only. Today, however, parts of Smith road, starting from the children center to the end of the shopping mall, is restricted to pedestrian use. In addition, there are now 2 additional zebra crossings connecting the town hall with both the cafe and the apartment block. Other amenities such as the park, the library, and the townhall were kept in its original form and location.
